![]() So I shorted the level switch for the last couple days and the light still came on today in regular traffic.ĭoes anyone know if the temperature reaches a specific value if the light will come on? I assume this Value would have to be reported by the two pin ECM sender not the gauge sender.Īny help is appreciated - want to avoid spending unnecessary time and money on dead ends. Even if the circuit opens momentarily, once the light goes on, it stays on until you turn off the ignition and the engine restarts with the circuit closed. If anyone has any insight on what is going on I'd love to hear feedback The Brown 4-pin sensor seems to have no effect - I understand this is the AC sensor The Yellow 4-pin temperature plug on the bottom of the coolant port when disconnected the temperature gauge drops to zero, when connected again, the needle comes back upĤ. The Blue 2-pin temperature sensor (I assume this is the ECM sensor) if unplugged causes the engine to fast idle when warm, plugging it back in means the proper idle returnsģ. The AC system has a leak - the system is currently disconnected (clutch switch)Ģ. Especially on the highway, when the car is moving quickly, the gauge drops to effectively min - suspect thermostat may be damagedġ. It goes up and down a fair bit and reads cooler than the aftermarket gauge. The Dashboard temperature gauge is a bit more conspicuous. This gauge always shows pretty good temperatures, in the city when driving stop/go the temps climb up to around 100C or so before the cooling fans will come on full blast, this will cycle with only the 1 speed setting (resistors gone) The PO installed an aftermarket coolant temperature sensor and gauge that will display the coolant temperature I repaired the regulator and was pleased to see the fuel gauge and temperature gauge working properly The previous owner never completed a voltage regulator repair for the gauges (both fuel and temp gauges were not functional) I have ordered a replacement radiator fan switch As soon as I plug in the radiator fan switch the fans come on, and stay on ![]() I have tested the circuit by shorting the radiator temperature switch pins One of the resistors has a blown low-speed circuit, the other is fine. Manually shorting and restarting flash goes away Verified that turning car on with plugged in - no flash I was hoping this would be the issue, but the light came on today after driving around town to pick up some things ![]() Unplugged and shorted the coolant level sensor in the overflow bottle The issue I'm trying to solve now is that the coolant light will come on (flashing) after about 20min of driving and continue flashing.ġ. New '92 Eurovan owner here - trying to go over it and make sure it's in good safe shape before I leave the city on any trips.
